Contrasts

Had a nice chat through MSN Messenger with "The Cycling Dude" , Kiril Kundurazieff from sunny California, this morning. For him it was late night and warm and cozy outside. For me it was early morning and full winter. Talk about contrasts. Posted by Hello

Kiril was preparing for his 11 day vacation and have two bike trips planned for this week. Looking forward to get the report when he is back from the saddle.

Really good cycle infested movie

Triplettes de Belleville, Les (2003)

If the snow is knee-deep or the rain is pouring. You have already seen "Breaking Away" and "American Flyers" 10 times each. Pedal down town and rent "Les Trippletes de Belleville" you won't be disappointed. It's a French beautifully animated film that kicks Disney's butt anytime.

Plot outline from imdb:
"When her grandson is kidnapped during the Tour de France, Madame Souza and her beloved pooch Bruno team up with the Belleville Sisters--an aged song-and-dance team from the days of Fred Astaire--to rescue him."

Map24 Bike Path Lobby

Wouldn't it be great if the excellent free online service Map24 could include bike paths?

I recently contacted Map24 through their online feedback-program asking for more bicycle related features in their service. I got the answer that they currently didn't have complete bike-path info and that the quality of the info they had varied a lot between different countries.

From school we learn that the market economy two basic factors are "supply" and "demand". I'm convinced that if more cyclist contact Map24, through their feedback program, about putting bike path info into their maps the chance of getting it there increases.

I can't link directly to their feedback form but go to their site and look out for the link "Feedback".

Go to their page an fill out the form and put some "demand" and we might be able to get some "supply".

Share Your Car Door Moments

Found this site browsing the excellent directory over Bicycle Blogs.

Although one can argue if it's a Blog www.cardoordeathtrap.com let you share experiences of encounters with the dreaded Car Door of Doom.

For myself I have been close a couple of times but I have been lucky to escape unscratched. My daily commute is 99% bike path so I rarely mingle with cars but when I have to the car-door paranoia set in. Keeping an eye out for humans on the driver side in parked cars and perhaps the most important thing, claim your space of the road when parked cars are ahead, has keept me alive.

Your Car Door is A Deathtrap

Bush bikes in the bush

The Seattle Times: Nation & World: Bush, a "biking maniac," loves leaving aides in dust

He is not only a maniac but also a "biking maniac". Will be hard to overlook the fact that He's riding a Trek next time I'll be shopping for a bike.

But seriously I think He should drop the Trek and buy a "PARATROOPER® - Tactical Mountain Bike" instead. It's sooooo You, George.

Nothing but the best for my dog!

Carry Freedom, innovating trailers

This BikeBiz article covered a young scotish entrepreneur, Nick Lobnitz and his enterprise Carry Freedom. Lobnitz and his business won the price as the "most visionary" young business.

Among the products was the bArk trailer, a trailer for you who miss the company of your canine friend on your trips.

JavaScripts, frames and Flash makes a direct link impossible. But just go to their main page and navigate to products to check the bArk out.
